Have To Catch Up

I want to tell you all  that  I’ve been obsessively taking pictures of all of the CJs that I have receieved and the ones that I have worked on, and I have to get back into posting about them.  I wanted to document this journey as it went along-and I’ve been falling behind horribly.

I also have to admit that I have to go back and remember what order I got the journals in….So if I talk about them out of order or forget-please forgive me!

More on what I’ve seen soon!  I promise!

Melanie’s CJ

I received Melanie’s CJ just before Chrtistmas, and have absolutely LOVED the idea-so I wanted to share her really great idea.

She did her journal as a music swap.  She made a small box, with dividers that were made to hold CDs, and challenged us to make CDs with some of our favorite songs on it.

This has been an excellent idea-and one that I really had fun with.  I’m going to finish scrapping my stuff for it today and will be sending along the pictures in the next week.  Can’t wait to share them with you all!

I’m waiting for others to share some of thier work and thier inspiration while working on the CJs.  What have you all found that has been cool-or that has inspired you in other work?

This was the last of the “5 Things About Me” pages in my CJ.

I wrote about my love for quotes and inspirational messages.  My friends all know this about me and put quotes in cards, in books, on tags and in gifts to me all of the time.  I found some simple vellum quotes from  my favorite big box craft store, and away I went.  Here were the results:

As you can see, I simply used good quotations, and made tags to layer them on.  I follwed a yellow and blue color scheme; and didn’t make it fussy or frilly.  That has been a real challenge for me.  I like to have things with layers and dimension, but I can’t do it in these journals-for fear that they won’t make it…or worse, it will take away from someone else’s work.

How are all of you ladies getting over that obstacle?

Pink Page

Since I chose a “5 things about me” theme for my CJ, I needed to include my favorite color.  I haven’t always been a pink girl.  I was (am) a tomboy.  I dug in the dirt, worked on the farm, cleaned stalls, drove a tractor, helped feed stock, and loved all things to do with paper.

I was one of those girls who always had pretty paper and pens in her desk at school.  My sisters would run to the candy isle when my mom would let us have treats, and I would go to the stationary isle to see if there was anything new.  My family should have known then that I would be “into” something to do with paper.

I love pretty paper, embellishments and glue.  There are a world of possibilities when you walk into a scrapbooking or a crafting store.  I love the smell of new paper….I know, I’m a nerd.

But anyway, here is my Pink Page:

I was inspired by a pattern of tiles while watching “House Hunters”.  It stuck with me for a few days and I didn’t know exactly how I was going to use it, but I was going to-definitely!  I kept drawing it and drawing it, then it hit me….punch out pink papers and use that as the base for the page.  I used the swirl as my guide and adhered the pieces underneath.  I really love the way that it turned out!

So, how are your journals working out, ladies?

Since leaving my old job and getting ready for my new one, I have become a little bit of a negligent blogger.  I apologize, ladies!  I’ve still got a couple of posts for my CJ, and then I need to get going on some posts about the books I already have.

I promise this is all coming soon!
(Really, I do!!)

Keep checking in.

Next page

Here is the other more “journal-centric” page for my CJ.  I wanted to highlight the colors of Facebook; and I wanted to use my own writing to make the case for why I’m addicted.

Tell me what you think:

TA DA!!!

My next set of pages.  I was more inspired on the “journal” aspect of the CJ this time.  My next page will also reflect that.  I wanted to share the reasons that I love Harry Potter; and some of the funny quotes that I’ve found and read during my time as a fan.

Here we are:

Hope you like ‘em!

The first of my “5 Things” in my CJ is that Fall is my favorite season.

Here it is:

Here are the next couple of pages in my CJ.  The left page is the suggestions that I gave in a previous post, and the right page is the title page.

Although it’s National Card Making Day, I’ve been really inspired by this project, so I spent most of my day on this.

My normal blog:  http://stampinsammie.wordpress.com will have the fruits of my card making for today.

Ladies-

Here are the front and back covers of my journal.  I decopaged the scrapbooking paper on, and added the flowers for something different.

I had to put a little “S” on the front…couldn’t help it.  Hope you enjoy!

My next post is going to be some of the pages on the inside.

Let me know what you think!
